Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that mostly effects the face, in both men and women from mid-life onwards and rarely effecting children. Its symptoms can start mild and progressively worsen including persistent redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, acne-like breakouts, thickened ‘orange peel’ texture and general discomfort.
Those with Rosacea are usually genetically pre-disposed to the condition, with links to vascular changes, inflammation and environmental factors that can trigger the condition to become worse such as UV exposure, heat, and lifestyle factors.

Persistent redness which can be severe or mild mostly to cheeks, nose, forehead and chin.
Visible capillaries (blood vessels) on the skins surface often in clusters and around nose, cheeks ad chin.
Sensitive, reactive and sometimes hot feeling skin.
The skin texture can become thickened with enlarged pores and an ‘orange peel’ like texture, particularly to the nose in more severe cases.
Acne-like pimples or red bumps.
Symptoms can flare at times to become severe before calming down again, in an ongoing manner.
Within our practice, Rosacea is managed in a collaborative medical-led approach often involving Dermatologist, GP Specialising in skin and Dermal Clinician. It usually requires long-term management and maintenance.
Treatment can involve initial diagnosis, education, at times topical and oral medication, and laser treatments:
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
Nd:YAG Vaccular Laser
C02 laser (for treatment of Rhinophyma)
